Project Type: Individual
Project Type: 3 weeks
The purpose of this exercise was to bring about the contrast between the perceived three dimensionality of the world we see and the usual two dimensionality of a photograph by making a composition inspired by David Hockney’s work . The strange three dimensionality of a space is uniquely perceived by everyone and hence we used contour drawing to understand the relation between what we see through our stereoscopic vision and it’s direct representation into a two dimensional live , continuous line drawing . We had to learn Hockney’s visual language by choosing the correct space , using it’s elements such as parallel lines and contrasting colours/forms to our advantage such that it formed a discontinuous yet continuous composition as a whole . The use and translation of the contour drawing into the composition is highlighted through the last iteration .
